“It’s indisputable that there’s a real pay gap. People can argue about how big, but that’s almost beside the point. The point is that every woman, every girl deserves to get paid what they’re worth.” – SHERYL SANDBERG

Gender pay reflects inequalities and discrimination among employees and it mainly affects women. They earn less than the man in their whole career
A study by BBC states that four out of ten companies have reported the gender gap wider than last year. So, the reason behind “same pay, more work or more pay, the same work” is quite shocking.
FOLLOWING ARE CAUSES OF THE GENDER PAY GAP:
DISCRIMINATION- SAME WORK BUT WOMEN ARE PAID LESS:
Discrimination is everywhere; women are paid less for the same work a man does. According to a study, during pregnancy and after that, more than 50,000 women left the job every year.
SOLUTION: Discrimination anywhere should be prohibited for the production and growth of the company and employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A WOMAN:
Woman plays a major role in taking care of kids and elders of a family. Due to these responsibilities’ women work part-time or work from home, these jobs are paid low with fewer opportunities.
SOLUTION: Flexible jobs
SENIOR ROLES ISSUES:
The majority of males are on senior roles and they were paid more than women. There are just 7 females CEO in FTSE 100.
SOLUTION: This is the 21st century, everyone is aware of the opportunity and discrimination. SO, never choose anyone on this basis of gender. Everyone is equally talented.
DISPARITY IN LABOUR MARKET:
80% of working women are in low skilled jobs and paid less. Only 10% are batter paid with a good job. The market is dominated by man.
SOLUTION: Skills are not determined by gender. So, the organization must hire a skilled person rather than judging by gender.
